Great fish n chips

Great quality and all freshly made .Highly recommended

Food is good & you get a decent amount and friendly staff.

Great fish and chips, very large portions.

Unfortunately, I have had to amend my former five star review of this establishment as the quality and service have deteriorated significantly in the past year. The shop was closed for some time due to a fire. Before the fire I gave this place a five star review and was a regular patron. Now, sadly, I cannot endorse the shop and will not return. The service I received the last few times I visited has been poor. The last time I was in, a week or so ago, I wanted two portions of chips. The girl behind the counter immediately began to serve me, but was stopped by another young lady who charged out of the back and took the chips from her. It seems that she wanted a portion for her own dinner and the paying customer would have to wait for another batch to be cooked. After waiting for some considerable time for the chips to cook, a third young lady finally served me. Only problem is, she immediately, and without asking, doused the chips in vinegar. I cannot eat any food with vinegar and when I said that I couldn't accept the chips the young lady had the audacity to complain that she would have to pay for them. Sorry, but perhaps next time you'll take the three seconds to ask the customer if they want vinegar. Finally, more than thirty minutes after I arrived, I left the shop with two portions of chips. Well...I say "portions", but honestly, if the contents of one box had been added to the other, it still would have amounted to little more than half the portion earlier drenched in vinegar. The final nail in the coffin - pieces of fish and fish batter in with the chips. I'm sure other customers wouldn't mind, but as my wife and I haven't eaten meat in over twenty years both measly portions went straight in the bin.Had this been my first experience of the Queen Street Chip Shop I would have given the place a one star review. However, given my past outstanding experiences and hope that service/quality will once again improve, I feel a three star rating is fair. That said, I wouldn't blame any customer for being less charitable and I will never return to the shop.
